Kathy came to Esplanade House broken and alone like a lot of their clients.
Prior to finding herself in this situation, Kathy had gone to school and earned Associate degrees in Child Development as well as Social and Behavioral Science in 2005.
With these degrees she was able to apply to be a substitute teacher in the Child Development Center at the Esplanade House, which led to a full-time position in the infant room in 2008. She helps provide a safe and stable educational environment for recently homeless children, ages 0-6. Kathy is a strong advocate for the children who have special needs and works diligently with the parents and other teachers to find available resources.
Upon graduating from the Esplanade House, Kathy was still in need of some assistance with housing. She was nominated for Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) and received 1yr of funding to help pay her rent. She now resides at Murphy Commons, a low-income apartment complex with her 3 children as well as her grandson.
