The North Valley Housing Trust (NVHT) is a nonprofit housing trust fund that provides financing for the production of affordable housing in Butte County, California. NVHT has a mission of developing a sustainable source of funding that is targeted to the community’s greatest housing needs. This is done by raising and pooling public and private funds locally, and leveraging those funds to attract government and foundation grants from outside Butte County.
About the Executive Director Position
NVHT is a four-year old organization that is seeking an Executive Director that will grow the trust fund by strengthening existing relationships, and forming new partnerships with local banks, hospitals, businesses, nonprofits and government agencies. The strength of these partnerships will be built on the foundation of a shared vision and a track record of success. The Executive Director will also work with a Community Development Financial Institution to build the fund. In addition, the Executive Director will work with developers and real estate agents to identify and pursue potential affordable housing projects, catalyzing the construction of affordable housing.
•Experience leading and managing a nonprofit corporation
•Affordable housing development experience, including site assessment and project feasibility analysis
•Applied knowledge in real estate finance
•Experience in providing services and/or developing programs for homeless individuals
•Ability to communicate effectively with boards of directors, councils and/or commissions, and the public
•Demonstrated capacity to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, including government entities, nonprofits, businesses, lenders and the general public
•Research and assess real estate development opportunities
•Facilitate monthly Board and Advisory Committee meetings
•Prepare annual budgets
•Carry out outreach and fundraising activities
•Propose prioritization of annual fund uses in compliance with policies and procedures
•Solicit and assess funding applications in collaboration with the CDFI Partner; present findings to the Board
•Prepare quarterly and annual budget reports
•Prepare annual outcome reports
•Oversee day-to-day operations of the organization
This is a part-time position without benefits. The Executive Director will have the opportunity to shape the time commitment related to his or her position depending on his or her goals and schedule. The expected time commitment is 5-20 hours per week, depending on assistance from other staff and work plan arranged with the Board of Directors. The time arrangement is therefore flexible depending on Executive Director and Board of Directors goals and needs. In order to meet a preferred workload, the Executive Director has the ability to hire administration staff or hire consultants for specific tasks.
Compensation is based on qualifications, and upon agreement with the Board of Directors.
